Course Description:

This is the first course in the Ribaat Arabic Language Program. It is designed to equip learners with the skills to read (phonetically decode) and write the Arabic script with vowels and provide them with a range of high frequency vocabulary which they can use in their reading of Quranic texts and to offer greetings in Arabic.

Module Content:  

  • Introduction to the Arabic language
  • The Arabic Alphabet
  • Vowels and other harakat
  • Numbers (1-10)
  • Greetings
  • High frequency Quranic vocabulary

Course Prerequisites:

Students should be women above the age of 17.

Placement: 

If this is your first Arabic course at Ribaat, you are required to submit a placement test. Click here for the Arabic Placement test.

Course Requirements:

Students are expected to attend 2 online classes each week, complete weekly assignments, submit a personal project and a final exam.

Arabic Program Policies

This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.
  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.
  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.

Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live.

Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until November 1, 2024
