Course Description:

This is the second module of the Intermediate High band. In this level, learners will expand the range of verbs they can conjugate by adding weak-end roots and examining the orthography of the letter hamza. They will also learn how to construct different types of conditional sentences, and noun-number phrases for numbers 11-99. They will also explore exceptions to the usual rules for case endings by learning about a wider range of diptotes. Students will apply their knowledge of these constructions to the topics of art and literature in the Arab world and around the globe using vocabulary found in classical/ liturgical as well as more modern texts

Module Content:

  • Introduction to weak-end roots (simple roots) 
  • Nouns and verbs with hamza
  • Diptotes (ممنوع من الصرف)
  • Noun-number phrases (11-99)
  • Conditional sentences 
  • Art and literature

Course Prerequisites:

  • Students should be women above the age of 17.
  • Arabic Intermediate Middle 3 or equivalent knowledge.

Course Requirements:

Students are expected to attend 2 online classes each week, complete weekly assignments, submit a personal project and a final exam.

Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live. Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until May 31st ,2025

Please note that daylight savings time will begin in the United States on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour earlier starting March 9.
