An accelerated study of the science of tajwīd. In this course, students will gain an understanding of all tajwīd concepts (including points of articulation – makhārij – and letter attributes – ṣifāt, proper pronunciation of the Holy Quran) during weekly online sessions with the instructor. This course is a fast-paced review of tajwid rules for those who have mastered the practice of recitation and need to learn or relearn the theory. Students will also join a bi-weekly halaqa in which they will work with a recitation teacher.
Students will recite mudarasa style in small groups preparing about a juz’ per week starting from the beginning of the Qu’ran.
Daylight savings time will begin in the United States on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour earlier starting November 3.
Live attendance is recommended for the live class whenever possible for the best learning experience. Live attendance is mandatory for recitation sessions. Recordings of the live class will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live. Recitation sessions are not recorded. Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until January 10, 2025.
*Starred items may be waived through tajwid assessment.
