Course Description:

Arabic Novice Middle is the second module in the Novice level of the Ribāt Arabic Language Program. This course introduces students to the basics of Arabic grammar, focusing on nouns, and helps build essential reading skills and vocabulary.

Learners will develop the ability to read the Quran, recognize key Arabic words and phrases, and introduce themselves in Arabic, laying a strong foundation for further Arabic language study.

  • Definite and Indefinite Nouns
  • Gender
  • Noun-Adjective Phrases
  • Personal Introductions
  • Colours
  • Countries and Nationalities
  • High frequency Quranic vocabulary

Course Prerequisites:

  • Students should be women above the age of 17.
  • Arabic Novice Beginner or equivalent knowledge.
Placement:

If this is your first Arabic course at Ribaat, you are required to submit a placement test. Click here for the Arabic Placement test.

Course Requirements:

Students are expected to attend 2 online classes each week, complete weekly assignments, submit a personal project and a final exam.

Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live. Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until May 31st, 2026.

This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.
  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.
  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.
