Course Description:

Quran Fluency Level 1 is a practical course designed to help students master Quranic reading skills and build a strong foundation in tajwid. Students will practice reading the Holy Quran, learn to decode Quranic text, and understand the different types of Arabic sounds and their correct pronunciation.

The course introduces the fundamentals of tajwid, enabling students to recognize Arabic letters, vowel sounds, and connect words accurately. With frequent in-class reading practice and guided strategies for home study, students will improve their Quran reading speed and fluency.

By the end of the course, participants will confidently read from the Quran and apply basic tajwid rules.

Course Prerequisites:

  • Students should be women above the age of 17.
  • ARL 111: Arabic Novice Beginner

Tajwid Placement: 

New students in the Ribaat Tajwīd Program are required to complete an assessment. Based on that, they will receive a recommendation on the best course to start with. Please click here to enroll:

Course Requirements: 

This course meets three times a week. This is a practical course so live attendance is required.

To be successful in this course, students need to attend the live class or watch the recordings, attend practice sessions live, and complete the coursework as defined in the course syllabus. This may include: a weekly reading log, a midterm, and/or a final exam.

This is an online course so students will need:

  • Access to internet with an internet speed of at least 2 Mbps recommended for best performance.
  • Headphones, camera and microphone may be required for in-class participation.
  • To access the live class and recordings, students will need a computer, smartphone, or tablet/iPad with the Zoom app.
