This is a practical course providing students the opportunity to practice reading the Holy Quran and master the skill of decoding. Students will learn the Baghdadi method of decoding Quranic script, learn the types of Arabic sounds and how to pronounce them correctly, and be introduced to the science of tajwīd. These skills will be put into practice in class with the instructor, and students will gain strategies to practice at home. By the end of this course, students should be able to recognize all the Arabic letters and vowel sounds with ease and be able to pronounce most of them correctly while improving their general speed and fluency while reading.
Students will work with a recitation teacher in small groups during 1 additional weekly session in which they will practice the skills learned in class.
Daylight savings time will begin in the United States on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Depending on where you live, this may or may not affect your class timing. In countries where DST is not applied at all, class will be one hour earlier starting November 3.
Live attendance is recommended whenever possible for the best learning experience. Recordings of the sessions will be made available for registered students who cannot attend live. Students will have access to course forums, recordings, and files until January 10, 2025.
New students in the Ribaat Tajwīd Program are required to complete an assessment. Based on that, they will receive a recommendation on the best course to start with. Please click here to enroll:
